Chrome Application Instructions

WHAT IS CHROME?

Chrome is a type of nail art pigment that comes in powder or flake form.  When rubbed over No Wipe Gel Top Coat or gel-like regular polish, it creates a smooth liquid look on the nails.  Chromes can come in metallic, mirror or color shifting finishes.  You can even use most satin dip powders as chrome rubs.  A little bit goes a long way!

Chrome Dust + Flakes Application

…With Regular Polish - No LED/UV Light Needed:

1. After applying polish or after applying dip powder, activating and buffing, apply a layer of regular air dry polish top coat and allow to dry to the touch, about 1 minute depending on your polish.

*If you have issues with peeling or chipping when applying chrome over dip powder, give the surface a rough buffing and/or apply a layer of regular polish base coat and let dry fully before applying top coat.

2. For a smooth chrome finish, rub Chrome Dust onto the top coat with a sponge applicator in smooth swipes or circles. For a textured look, press or sprinkle Chrome Flakes or Dust onto surface.  Dust off excess.  Apply more if needed to get desired coverage.

3.  Apply a layer of No Smudge Top Coat or another water based top coat and allow to air dry for 30-60 seconds.  Repeat for a second layer and let air dry completely, about 3 minutes.

TIPS: Add a layer of regular nail polish top coat after the smudge free top coat for a longer lasting finish.

…With Gel Polish - LED/UV Light Needed:

1. After applying polish or after applying dip powder, activating and buffing, apply a layer of No Wipe Gel Top Coat and flash cure until touchable, about 10-15 seconds depending on the lamp and gels used.

*If you have issues with gel peeling or chipping when applying chrome over dip powder, give the surface a rough buffing and/or apply a layer of Gel Base Coat and fully cure before applying no wipe top coat.

2. For a smooth chrome finish, rub Chrome Dust onto the top coat with a sponge applicator in smooth swipes or circles. For a textured look, press or sprinkle Chrome Flakes or Dust onto surface.  Dust off excess.  Apply more if needed to get desired coverage.

3. Apply another layer of No Wipe Gel Top Coat or matte gel top coat to seal in the finish and fully cure for 30-60 seconds depending on the lamp used.

Applying Chrome with One Step Gel

  1. Clean cuticles then shape and file the nail. Wipe off dust with alcohol.
  2. Apply a layer of One Step Gel, starting in the center, push gel close to cuticles, then back out to the free edge.  Clean any gel off the skin and flash cure for ~10-15 seconds depending on the lamp used.
  3. Apply a second layer of One Step Gel.  Clean any gel off the skin and flash cure for ~10-15 seconds depending on the lamp used.
  4. Rub Chrome Dust or press Chrome Flakes onto surface of the gel with a sponge tip applicator.  Add more as needed to get desired effect and dust off excess.  A little goes a long way!
  5. Seal in the chrome with No Wipe Gel Top Coat or Matte Velvet Gel Top Coat and fully cure for 30-60 seconds depending on the lamp used.
